Who Is Lyndsey Roofing®
Founded in July of 2015, Lyndsey Roofing® is a locally owned and operated roofing contractor in Poughkeepsie, NY. Bill Reilly was driven by two factors in starting this company. His desire to help people in his community came first by being a volunteer firefighter / EMT, to working for various companies in the industry since 1987. Those job positions were all customer service based in every aspect from warehouse to installation. Second to that, when Bills granddaughter Lyndsey was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 4 and could not put sentences together, the outcome was not promising. Lyndsey was enrolled in an Abilities First school. Over the next 16 months she worked very hard and was able to not only put sentences together but speak clearly, but her writing and reading skills excelled. Seeing this hard work from his granddaughter took away any fears of starting a business of his own and drove his desire to help people even more.

GAF Energy solar can produce electricity at a lower cost than your utility company. The more you produce and use your own electricity, the less you purchase. Between NYS Energy Tax Credit, NYSERDA Incentive, and the Federal Government Income Tax Credit, the cost of installation is reduced considerably.

Since 1993, Bill Reilly has been involved in the commercial roofing business. Most of his training was hands on since manufacturers did not offer any training classes. All that time learning has paid off and the trust that has been built has enabled us to be a licensed contractor with Elevate (Formerly Firestone Building Products), License #40012210, for APP/SBS, EPDM, Metal Roofing, Metal Edging, TPO and Polyisocyanurate roof insulation and a GAF Master Select Contractor, License #1111919, for GAF’s PVC, TPO and Polyisocyanurate roof insulation. Low-Slope Roof Repairs In The Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Eastern Ulster Counties
Having properly trained professionals to assess why a roof needs to be repaired vs replaced is what separates us from the rest. Lyndsey Roofing® wants to save the existing roof and get the most out of it. This saves money and helps the owner understand that low-slope roofs need proper maintenance. We have various types of low-slope roofing to deal with, From BUR (Built-up Roofing), EPDM, PVC, SBS (glue down and self-stick), Torch Down (APP), and TPO, they all have their own ways of being repaired. If it is not done correctly with the proper materials, that repair will fail.
Most low-slope repairs are related to the flashings. Since we are properly trained, we treat repairs as if this was a new roof installation. We want the repair to be a long-term solution.

Camelot II, Slateline and Woodland all offer a slightly different look of slate with a twist. With Lyndsey Roofing installing these products you have long term protection on material defects, labor to repair said defects and 25-year workmanship protection.

Cedar Wood Shakes: The oldest pitched roofing system in the United States and one that has had some advancements over the years. Cedar shakes are thicker and can be pre-treated with a wood preservative to help make wood shakes last for decades.
Composite Tile: The next generation of pitched roofing systems designed to look like slate, terra cotta tile (Spanish tile), and wood shakes. Usually, this is a PVC based product with a variety of colors. Most manufacturers offer a 50-year material defect warranty.
Brava Slate & Spanish Tile: Another oldie but a goodie pitched roofing systems that dates back over 2,300 years in Europe. The Brava Composite Slate & Terra Cotta tile gives you that real old school European look with a 50-year material limited warranty. Variety of colors are available.
Metal Roofing: The 3rd oldest pitched roofing system in the United States. Metal roofing manufacturers offer many different profiles and colors to choose from. Most profiles have the Kynar 30-year warranty, paint finish warranty, and the roof is highly wind resistant. In a commercial roof application, the manufacturers offer extended workmanship warranty.
Slate: The 2nd oldest roofing system in the United States and one of the longest lasting roofing systems available. It is Mother Earth that has a variety of thicknesses, profiles, and colors available. They are highly wind resistant and very low maintenance.
Attic Insulation and Proper Ventilation
Lyndsey Roofing® specializes in proper ventilation and insulation of pitched roofs. Ventilation starts at the eaves (soffit area) and requires unobstructed airflow to the ridge. If you do not have effective ridge vent ventilation you may get heat damage to the plywood decking and high moisture levels that cause mold. If the soffit is not open by the required measurements set forth by the manufacturers, this will also lead to high temperature damage to the plywood decking and high moisture levels that cause mold. The soffit vent and ridge vent combination is critical and the best way to vent your attic. Keep in mind, having multiple ventilation products installed like gable vents or fans, roof fans, mushroom vents and wind turbines with a ridge vent will create problems. We will provide all documentation showing the proper ventilation system to meet your home’s needs.
If you do not have proper insulation in the attic, damaging heat and moisture will create the same problems as above for it can overwhelm the ventilation that is in place. Proper attic insulation provides energy efficiency by helping to reduce the load on your air conditioner and heating system, it lowers electrical bills, reduces the risk of ice dam formation on your roof, and reduces mold growth.
Chimneys & Flashing Info
Keep in mind chimneys, vent pipes, bathroom fans, roof fans, and range hood vents must be inspected yearly. Chimneys expand and contract in different directions than the roofing system. If you have a one-piece flashing detail, or the flashing is not cut into the chimney properly, that is improper according to the ARMA (American Roofing Manufacturers Association). They are a group that sets the standard application methods for roofing systems and flashing details that all roofing manufacturers base their installation instructions on.
Misapplication is the Number One reason for leaks in flashing details. This is totally preventable when you hire the right company who is properly trained, experienced, and is certified like Lyndsey Roofing®.
Skylights
Natural daylight is more eye appealing than electrical lighting in our homes. We offer skylights from the Velux, Starlight and Wasco brands. Whether they are fixed or operating, we offer standard and custom sizes and shapes. Velux’s solar skylights offer peace of mind to make sure they are closed even if you are not home. The Velux solar shade is available in light filtering and room darkening designs. There is a solar rebate to help cover the cost.
Gutters, Downspouts, Soffits & Fascia’s
Next time you are inspecting your gutters and downspouts, look at the soffits (overhang), the board behind the gutters, and along the edge of the roof. These can all be damaged which can lead to deteriorated rafter tails and opportunities for water infiltration into the outside wall. This will lead to reduced insulating R-value in the wall, wood framing damage, and possibly carpenter ants or termites. They love wet wood.
Roof Ventilation Repairs
Inspecting your attic for mold, moisture, and discoloration of the wood deck should be an annual visual inspection. If you see rusted nails, black streaks coming off nails, or plywood starting to delaminate, then you have a ventilation problem. Lyndsey Roofing® specializes in this work and understands the events that can lead to these problems. We will diagnose the cause and give you a proposal to fix it. We will provide the paperwork to validate our discovery and solution to your repair.
